There was a first visit by a Class 47 to Wick for nearly a decade on April 18 when West Coast Railways' 47760 arrived with an ECS train from Inverness to tie in with the 'Great Britain 4' charter. 47s are nominally barred from the line north of Georgemas to Wick but Network Rail allowed special dispensation for this working. The train returned steam hauled by a pair of 'Black 5s', 44871 and 45407.
