Boost for oldest multiple unit

Plans to restore the country's oldest-surviving multiple unit to working order have received a boost with the recent delivery of an ex-Southern Region EMU power bogie.The 3170 Autocar Trust, based at the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway, is restoring a 1903-built North Eastern Railway petrol-electric railcar and its driving trailer for use on heritage railways.The power car was originally mounted on Fox bogies but these are not large enough to accommodate any of the traction motors which are available.
