Former Loadhaul 'bubble car' 55012 is nearing completion at the workshops of Rail Restorations North East Ltd at Shildon and is expected to be released before the end of the year. As 977941 the Gloucester Class 122 unit was used as a route-learner by freight company Loadhaul, later passing to EWS, but spent many years dumped and vandalised at the rear of Thornaby Depot before being rescued for preservation last year.Restoration work has included replacing all the doors which had been plated over, the fitting of a new floor, side panels and ceiling and the rebuilding of the partition at the rear of the driver's cab.
