New St to see first A4

The first A4 to ever work through Birmingham New Street will be 4464 Bittern, when it heads a Vintage Trains charter on October 18. Says Vintage Trains: "We firmly believe that an LNER A4 locomotive has never hauled a passenger train from Birmingham New Street station; not in 'Big Four', British Rail, nor preservation times, so we plan to change that during the course of this excursion." The train, which starts from Tyseley diesel-hauled, returns with 4464 from Didcot, via Bristol and the Lickey Incline.
