Sea wall closure could affect charters

Charter promoters are naturally concerned about trains advertised to run along the Dawlish sea wall with the line closed for major rebuild following the recent storm damage. Pathfinder says its April 19 Paignton-Shrewsbury tour will start at Exeter if the line is not opened by then, but Vintage Trains - which has D1015 Western Champion trips to Paignton on April 26 and Plymouth on May 10 says it has submitted specs for these days but will understandably 'play it by ear'. Pathfinder also has a steam tour taking 5029 Nunney Castle to Plymouth to tie in with the 100th anniversary of 3440 City of Truro's 100mph run.
