CD 380 series visits Hungary for acceptance runs

Class 380s of the Czech national railways (CD) are undertaking trials in Hungary. These trials are an obligatory part of the acceptance procedure for new locomotives. During the runs, braking tests are performed and the Mirel train protection system is evaluated. Of the 20 CD 380s, 380.011 /017 had already received type approval for the Hungarian network. By the end of February, the remaining 18 locomotives were expected to have also passed their acceptance. CD plans to operate passenger Prague-Budapest trains with the locos. They will replace the older, Skoda ZSSK Class 350s. However, before these plans can be realised, the current restrictions for operating on the Slovakian network need to be resolved.
