GWR Class 37 golden jubilee celebrations

The Growler Group is planning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 37215 with a special event on October 18 which could also see the return to traffic of D6948. Both locos are based at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, with 37215 in traffic while D6948 is undergoing a thorough overhaul to return it to 'as built' condition in BR green. The loco is also being fitted with a steam heat boiler for the first time. The GWR will operate its normal 'Blue' timetable and a Class 37-hauled six-coach set will replace the DMU diagram on its three return trips between Laverton and Cheltenham Racecourse, giving 72 miles of 37 haulage throughout the day. Normal fares will apply.
