GBRf 73/9s finally enter traffic

GB railfreight has finally been able to put its first two Class 73/9s into traffic. Late on February 10, 73961 Alison and 73962 Dick Mabbutt ran light from Loughborough to Tonbridge and on February 16 they were in action on the Tonbridge SITT (Snow and Ice Treatment Train) circuit via Swanley, Sittingbourne and Medway Valley. 73963 is close to completion at Brush Loughborough and 73964/965 should not be too far behind; the former is now in GBRf livery having previously been in Intercity colours. These first five locos are destined for Network Rail use. The next six conversions, 73966-971, will be for Scottish 'sleeper' work.
