Romney,hythe & Dymchurch Railway No 1 Green Goddess, was derailed after a crash with a tractor on an unmanned crossing on Hythe Road, Dymchurch on September 10. Fortunately, the driver managed to leap clear before the impact, which also left the first coach on its side. No-one was seriously hurt.Two previous incidents, that took place on level crossings on the line in 2003 and 2005, resulted in the deaths of the locomotive drivers in the derailments. Since then, most crossing have had barriers installed and all have a severe speed restriction on them.
