Cardiff Open Day

Not all British Rail open days were blessed with good weather. One that was, however, took place at Cardiff Canton depot on July 6, 1985. It apparently also included Cardiff Cathays, but I don't have any pictures of that. Either we didn't visit that part or I just didn't take any slides there, I can't remember. The event was part of the 'GWR 150' programme, held during the year to mark the famous railway's one and a half centuries. Although it was a pleasant day with plenty of interesting exhibits to see, my slide count was only 11. Although that might not sound much, some slides show more than one loco, and my friend Robert and I intended to make the trip doubly worthwhile by having some time afterwards for bus photography. This we achieved, completing a very worthwhile day's snapping for me!
