Four tracks to Flevoland

The cabinet gave its approval on March 20 for the Ministry of Transport to spend E∪N 531m on infrastructure works to handle the predicted growth in passenger traffic in Flevoland. There has been a substantial increase in travel to this part of the Netherlands, which was reclaimed from the Zuiderzee during the 20th century, and the investment is needed to prevent a critical lack of capacity by 2015. The Flevo line will also carry long-distance traffic to the northeast once the Hanze Line has been completed between Lelystad and Zwolle (RG 12.06 p798).
