Transdev Orders FLIRT 3 EMUs For NordWestBahn

On 13 June 2019 Stadler announced that it had been awarded a 100 million EUR contract by Transdev for the latter's subsidiary NordWestBahn, involving 16 four-car 160 km/h FLIRT 3 EMUs, whose deliveries will start in 2022. Once they are completed, Transdev will have a fleet of 118 FLIRT EMUs of various types. Starting in December 2022 NWB plans to put the FLIRTs in service on the 270 km Regio-S-Bahn Bremen/Nieder-sachsen network, for which it has an operating concession which expires in 2036. At present services on this network are provided by a fleet of 35 Alstom-built Coradia Continental EMUs.
