Innovative ticketing solutions are already being used on several routes in the UK, with Transport for London's Oyster card being the best known. There are also solutions such as m-ticketing, introduced by Chiltern, whereby passengers book a ticket using their phone and are sent a barcode that can then be read by ticket inspectors and barriers.rnThe Oslo Airport Express, a Norwegian high-speed rail link, has successfully implemented a truly ticketless system, whereby passengers simply swipe their credit card at any barrier, select their destination on the touch screen and the barrier opens to permit them to travel. The cost of the ticket is automatically added to their credit card bill and digital receipts, as well as a full report of current travel, can easily be accessed via a central website.rnIt is six years since the credit card system was introduced and now 50 per cent of the Oslo Airport Express's customers use this method of payment, and they like it - the rail link has a 93 per cent customer satisfaction rate.
