Stress calculations for direct fastening track

The High-Speed Line Zuid (HSL-Zuid) is the Dutch link to the European high-speed network. The HSL-Zuid will connect Amsterdam and Rotterdam with the capitals of Belgium and France. Due to bad subsoil conditions in the Netherlands the HSL-Zuid is to be built as a continuous viaduct. To maximise the advantage of this continuous viaduct, it was decided that the line would be built as ballastless track with a construction depth of only 36 cm. To clear the way for the design and construction contract for the tracks, overhead line, signalling and telecommunications, Project-organisatie HSL-Zuid started a project to develop ballastless track.
