A market-led railway system

For many reasons - people like travelling by train. But, in reality, the railways in Europe are constantly losing market shares. Despite the fact that politicians, many people and companies want the railways to flourish, very little is actually happening. Why is this? The answer is in fact quite simple: We live in a market economy and the rail sector is unable to offer products that are worth the money we pay for them. Rail transport is too expensive in comparison to the quality of the products. When a problem is so easy to define, it is also easy to come up with the solution: The rail sector must offer customers competitive products.
