The way ahead for European railways - regulatory and organisational trends

This paper reflects some of the concerns being addressed in on-going research projectsi regarding the organisational and regulatory evolution of transport systems in general, and railways in particular, based on in-depth observation of developments in recent years. As such, it should be seen as a discussion paper rather than a fully consolidated new vision for the organisation of railway systems.
