Rolling Stock Plan revived by CSR

As intense lobbying continued over the future of the Intercity Express Programme (p10), DfT revealed that it is developing a comprehensive Rolling Stock Plan bringing together a number of interdependent requirements. This is because the current evaluation of Agility Trains' revised 1EP proposal against a number of credible alternatives proposed by Sir Andrew Foster's review cannot be separated from other rolling stock programmes. Decisions on Thameslink and thernresidual HLOS programmes for CP4 will affect the Great Western Main Line and Northwest Triangle electrification schemes (p8). The business cases of both schemes depend on the availability of Class 319 EMUs cascaded from Thameslink to avoid the cost of new rolling stock.
