Safety issues raised during trials for the ETCS Early Deployment Scheme on the Cambrian Lines will be discussed when Network Rail attends a meeting with ORR this week to determine how this stalled project can be moved forward.rnAs reported in RB1366 (p7), the outstanding problem is with the location and visibility of the Driver-Machine Interface, an illuminated screen displaying current and target speeds, as well as when to slow down. There have also been some instances of onboard equipment failing to communicate properly with balises on the track which primarily confirm train location, but RBI has been assured that detection and rectification of a fault has eliminated this problem.
