Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority has welcomed the announcement by Transport Minister Sadiq Khan on March 8 that DtT will fund retention by Northern Rail of five Class 142 DMUs, writes Tony Miles. The Pacers were released by closure of the Oldham Loop for conversion to a Metrolink route.rnDfT had initially declined to support the retention of these sets. Following overcrowding on services between Rochdale and Manchester as passengers displaced from the Oldham Loop looked for alternative rail services, GM1TA had agreed temporary funding for the retention of three sets.
