DfT's Rolling Stock Plan in abeyance

In a written statement given to the House of Lords on December 14, Transport Secretary Lord Adonis conceded that the revised Rolling Stock Plan, which ministers had been hoping to publish 'by Christmas' (RB1354 p6), would not be available until commercial negotiations had been completed for the new Thameslink fleet. Describing the RSP as 'critically dependent on the determination of the Thameslink rolling stock contract', Adonis added that the government 'remains committed to providing an additional 1300 carriages by mid-2014'.
