Network Rail reports that the number of incidents of cable theft affecting train performance in 2013-14 stood at 95 at the end of Period 6 on September 14 (RB1447 p4). This compared to 165 at the end of P6 2012-13. Cable theft had caused a total of 30 928 delay-min up to the end of P6 2013-14, requiring NR to pay an estimated £1 053 649 in Schedule 8 compensation costs to passenger and freight operators. The respective figures for P6 2012-13 stood at 90 190 delay-min and £3 497 974.
