Perry defends Ely - Soham cancellation

Transport Minister Claire Perry told the House of Commons on September 21 that 'on its own' the scheme to install a second track between Ely and Soham 'does not affect the number of freight trains which can operate' between Felix-stowe and Nuneaton. She was responding to a written question from Shadow Transport Secretary Lilian Greenwood, who had asked what assessment had been made of the impact of cancelling the scheme (RB1494 p1) 'on the forecast maximum number of freight trains per day' that could be run between Felixstowe and Nuneaton by the end of the current Control Period 5.
