Take your PIC!

This article - a hands-on introduction to using a TIC -guides the subject beginner through the apparent minefield surrounding its programming and use. Introductory programs are given, but many more can be found on the 'RadCom Plus' area of the RSGB members-only website. Fear not the PICs any more. They are with us to be used and enjoyed as much as the familiar 555 and 741 ICs. And be assured, this article does not seek to teach you about programming, neitherdoes it ex-pectyou to be knowledgeable on that subject already. Quite the contrary, it offers hours of fun and interestatvery modest cost, using a few simple PIC-based projects where the programming has already been done for you. The programs are loosely related or applicable to amateur radio and DIY electronics. All that is required of you is access to a computer with Windows 95 or higher, and about ￡20- ￡30 to play with.
