It's hard work and takes a long time to establish and maintain a contractor's quality management system (QMS) in a new fixed-term project.One of the first mobilized departments at a project site is quality, and the project quality manager's (PQM) attendance at the kickoff meeting is essential. Long working hours start for the PQM after these meetings, when he or she must generate project-specific quality documents, build project quality teams and get client approval for everything.This article provides helpful hints for new PQMs that will make things easier at the beginning of a new project (see Figure 1 for a QMS checklist for PQMs).
