Suzano starts up new tissue machine in Mucuri

Brazil's Suzano Papel e Celulose has made its debut on the tissue paper market. The company, announced that it has started up its first tissue machine at the Mucuri mill in the state of Bahia. The first jumbo rolls had been sold, Suzano said. The new TM has a capacity of 60,000 tpy. Suzano is also planning to install a second tissue machine with the same capacity at the Imperatriz facility in the state of Maranhao. It is scheduled to start up during the course of the fourth quarter. This will give the company a total tissue capacity of 120,000 tpy and - so it was said - a maximum converting capacity of 60,000 tpy. In earlier reports, the company said that the jumbo rolls are to be sold to Brazilian toilet paper manufacturers for conversion in Brazil's northeast. Annual consumption in Brazil, said Suzano, is approximately 800,000 tpy.
