Guidance on the EU's Single-Use Plastic Directive does not exempt paper with plastic lining or coating

The European Commission has published its guidance on the Single-Use Plastic Directive of the European Union. The guidance makes it clear that cellulose film and uncoated paper and board products do notfall under the scope of application of the Directive and will therefore not be subject to prohibitions or restrictions. In contrast, paper products with plastic lining or coating are covered by the Directive, with no exemptions being planned. The deadline set for member states transposing the "Directive on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment", which is also known as SUPD, into national law will expire on 3 July.The guidance is meant to contribute to the EU-wide harmonisation of the Directive's implementation.
