摘要

Formation, drainage and retention are important parameters when evaluating wet end operations during papermaking. Improving one of these parameters often means deteriorating another. This paper will describe a new tool for simulating the wire section of a paper machine. The Moving Belt Former (MBF) has been developed for simulating the pulsating dewatering on the wire section of a paper machine. In a scale-up, the MBF has been shown to give reliable results when investigating retention chemicals and their effect on paper machine performance.
