In the 1920s, the Brazilian embryonic scientific community decided to foster more intense dialogue with society. The setting was Rio de Janeiro, then the federal capital. A variety of channels were used to communicate science, including newspapers, magazines, books, lectures, arid the radio (Massarani, 1998; Massarani and Moreira, 2001).
