Delancey plans to bring back the bustle to Elephant & Castle

Elephant & Castle has been a major focus for regeneration schemes over the last five years - and not without controversy. Lend Lease's redevelopment of the Heygate Estate, in particular, has been a focal point for the debate about gentrification and the lack of affordable homes in London. This month, another large-scale development was unveiled in the area. Delancey and Dutch pension fund giant APC published their emerging proposals for a new town centre on the site of the Elephant & Castle shopping centre. The plans include the demolition of the existing 1960s fortress-like shopping centre to make way for four new buildings, including a campus for the University of the Arts London (UAL).
