Need to know: cuts to eclipse solar tariff

The government has confirmed the changes it will make this year to the solar feed-in tariff (FIT) paid to developers of large solar power installations, following a consultation on the proposals. The changes are: 1.Tariffs will be reduced from current levels on 1 August, rather than 1 July 2.Subsequent cuts of 3.5% will occur every three months, on 1 November, 1 February and 1 May 3.Tariffs for developers with more than 25 solar installations will be reduced to 90% - from 80%, of the full tariff 4.Indexation of the tariff will continue to be in line with the Retail Prices Index 5.The tariff lifetime will be reduced from 25 years to 20 years.
