Self-storage company Big Yellow's shares jumped 10% to 239.25p on Tuesday after its half-year results came in ahead of expectations. Pretax profit was 20% higher at £11.6m in the six months to 30 September, thanks to an increase in occupancy of the established stores from 71.1% to 74.8%, allied with tight cost control. However, chairman Nick Vetch said that when stores in London's Chiswick and New Cross are completed next summer, "capital expenditure will largely end for the time being".
