Stratford International Quarter woos FCA away from Canary Wharf

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has agreed to move away from Canary Wharf to anchor the Stratford International Quarter development next to the Olympic Park. The deal will be a huge coup for owners Lend Lease and London & Continental Railways, which is aiming to turn the area into a finance and business hub. The FCA will relocate around 3,000 staff to the area from 2018. Stratford is thought to have been seen as a less expensive option, as its rents are around £10/sq ft cheaper than Canary Wharf's at between £30/sq ft and £35/sq ft. The completed International Quarter will include 4m sq ft of offices, 250 homes, a hotel and 52,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants.
