Seeds sown for garden suburb

Peabody Group is hoping to create a new garden suburb thanks to the 100 acre redevelopment of Thamesmead, south-east London. The housing association could create up to 6,000 new homes over the next 20 years after acquiring Tilfen Land and Trust Thamesmead, as well as their respective land interests in the area. Following Peabody's acquisition of Gallions Housing Association in January, more than 100 acres of developable land in Thamesmead, along with housing and community investment, are now all owned by a single organisation.
