In the extreme pressure wheel-rail environment Solidstick has a huge advantage. Of the many types of solid lubricants, lamellar solids are the most commonly used solid lubricants. (Lamellar refers to the layered molecular structure.) Molybdenum disulfide (MoS_2) is a superior lamellar solid lubricant that has the unique ability to adhere tenaciously to metal surfaces, forming a protective low friction film. We also know that combining specific solid lubricants works in synergy, providing enhanced lubricity over any single component. Solidstick is a stable solid lubricant containing a high percentage of MoS_2 in a proprietary synergistic blend of extreme pressure additives within a polymer matrix. This has far superior lubricating performance over wayside greases, locomotive-mounted sprays, or other solid lubricants.
