FROM GSR TO ITR Union Pacific Railroad this month is replacing gate reservation systems (GSRs) with intermodal terminal reservation (ITR) systems at six West Coast facilities. The Class I has used GSRs since the mid-2000s. The ITR systems will support better dray and in-gate planning, and ramp inventory management, UP officials said in a customer announcement. Featuring an enhanced user interface and more mobile-friendly accessibility, the systems will more closely tie reservations to train capacity and terminal fluidity. Therefore, an accessorial fee for no shows and canceled reservations will be implemented, UP officials said, adding that ITR eventually will be installed at additional domestic terminals.
