CPSC May 13 warned that soft-sided flexible clogs and slides account for large majority foot entrapment incidents on escalators - 75 of 77 since January 2006. However, the agency noted, falling accounts for most the incidents. Recent months have seen many stories in the general press alleging that the popular plastic clogs, Crocs, pose dangers on escalators. CPSC escalator use tips included:rn1. Make sure shoes are tied.rn2. Stand in the middle and step off at the end of the ride.rn3. Hold children's hands and do not let them play on the steps.rn4. Do not use with children in strollers, walkers or carts.rn5. Avoid the sides of the steps.rn6. Face forward and hold handrails.rn7. Know where emergency shut-off buttons are.
