Feather remnants found in a dinosaur fossil

Re-examination of a dinosaur fossil that exhibits both reptilian and avian features has revealed remnants of feathers in areas previously thought to contain merely impressions. Uwe Bergmann et al. (pp. 9060-9065) imaged a fossil of Archaeopteryx, the earliest known bird, via X-ray fluorescence, and generated high-resolution chemical maps of the specimen.
