Briefing: Educating new engineers about risk: the risk education network

The construction industry needs engineering graduates who can maximise opportunity and minimise losses (injuries to workers or the public, property or environmental damage, financial, personal or corporate reputation). To do this, graduates need to appreciate and fulfil their professional responsibilities to manage risk as enshrined in legislation and professional codes of conduct. Engineering graduates need sufficient understanding of the tools and techniques for risk assessment and management. A growing online community, known as the risk education network, is sharing and developing good practice in the teaching of risk, and would welcome your input. You are also invited to make use of, and contribute to, an associated online repository of teaching resources.
