Consideration is given to the relevance and stages of the development of the acoustic-emission (AE) technique for detecting fatigue cracks on the shafts of the intermediate- and low-pressure rotors of turbines at thermal power plants. Examples of AE testing of rotors with differently loaded shafts are given. The main stages in the nondestructive testing of the intermediate- and low-pressure rotors of turbines at thermal power plants without dismounting the shrunk-on disks during maintenance are outlined.
