Simplified analysis of electrical gradients above a ground grid. II. The beauty of improper approximations for an efficient optimization of progressively spaced grids under a dominant safety constraint
For pt.I see IEEE Trans. Power Appar. & Syst., vol.PAS-103, p.7-25 (1984). It is demonstrated that a series of practical grid designs can easily be generated by a small computer and, at the same time, a near-optimal design solution obtained under a hard safety constraint. Advantages of using the pattern recognition and repro-modeling (RM) techniques for performance evaluations of alternative grid designs are demonstrated with a tandem set-up of two computer routines: one representing the state-of-the-art multisegment matrix method, and the other one based on a fast yet potentially very accurate RM algorithm simulating the gradient field effects.
