Although, in earlier days, rural Fermanagh was a rather quiet area for a policeman, it was not without its humorous incidents which helped to relieve any monotony caused by peaceful Constabulary service. A case in point occurred in the 1940s when a young Constable, stationed in Belcoo, fell in love with a daughter of the Sergeant in charge of quiet Letterbreen Station. This association was not discouraged by the parents of the girl who welcomed the young policeman to their married quarters which adjoined the station.
