An unwanted gift: The development of blistering secondary to new slippers in a neuropathic diabetic - a dangerous Christmas present
This 48-year-old male ex smoker had 16-year history of type 2 diabetes, weight was 97.3 kilograms, and BMI was 31.6. He had no previous history of painless ulceration. The current episode required hospitalisation for the administrant of antibiotics. He had suffered a myocardial infarct at time of diagnosis of diabetes and underwent coronary artery bypass graft and insertion of cardiac stents. He attended the eye clinic owing to diabetic retinopathy but has not yet required laser photocoagulation.
