Southwest Power Pool and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator kicked off Dec. 11 the Joint Targeted Interconnection Queue Study to address challenges along the seam between the two footprints where the transmission system is at capacity. SPP and MISO announced Sept. 15 the yearlong study to identify power grid upgrades that could alleviate long-standing interconnection challenges along the MISO-SPP seam. The joint study is designed to identify mutually beneficial transmission projects and process improvements.
