West spot power falls on lower gas, reduced load

Day-ahead power prices across the US West Coast were lower Wednesday, pushed down by weaker demand and lower gas prices. In California, SP15 on-peak also fell on the Intercontinental Exchange, about $18 lower on the day to average near $224/MWh. Spot gas at the Southern California Gas city-gate for Thursday delivery traded at around $15/MMBtu, down about $3.50 from Tuesday and was less than 40% of the all-time high of more than $39/MMBtu set Monday.
