New Mexico utility files to quit its 200 MW stake in Four Corners coal plant

Public Service Co. of New Mexico, or PNM, has filed with New Mexicoregulators for permission to abandon its 200-MW ownership interest inthe Four Corners coal-fired power plant in keeping with a previousannouncement of its intent to do so.PNM filed its application (21-00017-UT) for abandonment of its 13%ownership stake in Units 4 and 5 of the 1,540-MW plant on Jan. 8 withthe New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.Parent company, PNM Resources Inc. announced on Nov. 2, 2020,plans to transfer its ownership interest to the Navajo TransitionalEnergy Corp. at the end of 2024.
