IEA cuts 2040 global gas demand forecast, sector facing 'significant' uncertainty

The International Energy Agency expects global gas demand to reach 5.22 Tcm by 2040, it said in its latest World Energy Outlook published Oct. 13, down from the 5.4 Tcm it was predicting in last year's outlook. The IEA said demand in the world's advanced economies is forecast to dip by 2040 - the first time it has made such a forecast - with the 30% total increase in consumption by 2040 driven almost entirely by Asia and the Middle East.
