Appalachian gas production seen flattening in 2020: Platts Analytics

Appalachian natural gas production growth in 2019 is expected to slowto 2% year on year, compared with 8% growth in 2018, with output in2020 expected to remain flat to slightly higher than 2019 levels,according to S&P Global Platts Analytics.This trend reflects Appalachian producers’ assurances to investorsthat in 2020 they would “live within cash flow” rather than focus onincreasing production in the basin. If every producer in the basin wereto follow the cash-flow mantra, 2020 production could decline by 100MMcf/d to 200 MMcf/d relative to current production levels, a recentanalysis by Platts Analytics found.
