Biofuels production stagnates

Global biofuels production stagnated last year, showing the weakest annual growth since 2000, with most current renewable energy sources facing growth limits due to their high costs, according to BP's chief economist Christof Ruhl. World biofuels production grew by just 0.7%, equivalent to 8,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2011, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2012. Totaling 1.182 million b/d, biofuels added just 1.4% to global oil production, the figure for which was 83.576 million b/d, according to BP.
