Utility-scale solar takes root in Sub-Saharan Africa

Senegal’s Electricity Sector Regulatory Commission thisrnweek awarded two utility-scale solar projects to Europeanrnutility ENGIE and its investment partner Meridiam.rnThe price of the awards was 3.80 euro cents per kWhrn($46.9/MWh) for a 30 MW plant in Kahone in the Kaolackrnregion, and 3.98 euro cts/kWh ($49.2/MWh) for a 30 MWrnproject in Touba-Kaël, in the Diourbel region. Eight companiesrnor consortia submitted 14 bids for the two projects.
