Gazprom liberalization on track

Gazprom has allayed market fears that its planned share liberalization would be postponed or not implemented in full by confirming on January 19 that all restrictions relating to foreign ownership of its shares would be lifted within the terms originally laid out in the Gazprom-Rosneft merger plan. Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller denied reports that the terms had been revised because of government uncertainty over the proposals. "The preparations for Gazprom's share market liberalization are going in accordance with the plan and in strict concordance with the orders given by the President and the government of the Russian Federation," he stressed.
